Traffic Safety Checkpoints

The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments and the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of May.

AssistanceThe Emergency Food & Shelter Program Local Board for Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties is proud to announce funding for Phase 41 to assist with the following: Rent Utilities Food Funding is available for 501(c)3 organizations that assist their communities in the aforementioned areas. All organizations interested in applying for funding should email Yolanda McCray directly at yolanda@blackriveruw.org by May 15. Funds Designated by area are Georgetown County - $19,465; and Williamsburg County - $11,198.

Seniors PatrolThe Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden residents of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Police Chaplain the Rev. Harold Jackson. Volunteers NeededSeniors and disabled adults in your community are homebound and need your help getting to doctor’s appointments, grocery stores, social activities, religious services, and more.

Help them live with the quality of life they deserve at a time when they need it most. You can make a difference!

AA MeetingsThe Town of Lane Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings will be on Fridays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lane Community Center. If you think you have a drinking problem there is help without judgment.

Volunteers NeedSt. Mark Bloomingvale CDC, Inc. needs you to help operate the local community foodbank every second and fourth Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. The organization is located at 8292 Thurgood Marshall Hwy. (Bloomingvale Community Center).

Addiction TreatmentWilliamsburg County Behavioral Health provided by Circle Park is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chavis Complex located at 2811 S. State Highway 41-51 in Hemingway. Services offered include medication assisted treatment, individual and group counseling, ADSAP for loss of driver’s license, family and adolescent counseling and peer support recovery services. ConcertOn Thursday, May 16, The Synergy Twins will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Moore Farms. Twin brothers, Stephen and Jeff Neil, bring equal parts of energy and talent. They have been electrifying audiences with their pioneering style of classical crossover violin movement since 2013. This concert with two of the Lake City Concert Series favorite performers in the beautiful garden setting will be the highlight of their 40th anniversary celebration. There will be a reception southern dinner with tea and lemonade at 6:30 p.m.

Cades-Hebron Community Revival, preaching Craig Cribb, will be held from May 5 to May 9, at 7 p.m. at the Hebron Independent Church, 1424 Hebron Rd., Cades.

School ReunionThe Tomlinson Alumni Committee members are planning their 2024 School Reunion for Labor Day weekend, to begin Friday, August 30 through Saturday, August 31. The events will take place at the Williamsburg County Recreation Department and The Tomlinson Site. Tomlinsonians, attendees, descendants of Tomlinsonians who graduated from Kingstree Senior High School, and any others interested in attending the reunion, are welcome to register.

The Alumni Committee members are also sponsoring their Fifth Brick Order Project.

Talent & Auto ShowThe Monarch Strong Talent & Auto Show will be held Saturday, June 8, at the J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road, Manning. Pre-register your vehicle and/or buy your hot air balloon tickets at www.monarchstrong.com. Donations are accepted for scholarships.

The hot air balloon ride is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., if weather permitting.
